Before hitting the road, we went to visit Missoula's Costco, check out the store, and get gas. Poking around the city for a few minutes we came across their "Fort Park". Wow! The city has invested a tremendous amount of money in their parks, just recently. Playgounds, soccer fields, softball facility and more. Very impressive!
We found our way back to Rt 12 and spent the day on the National Scenic Byway. At Lolo Pass there is a very good Visitor Center by the Forest Service. Great bookstore! Then down along the Lochsa River and the Clearwater into Orofino.
The heat wave has arrived where we are today. No more cool Canadian mountain air! Its 95 as we arrive at the Best Western in Orofino. How do you figure that out here, in the middle of nowhere, you'd find a REALY nice Best Western? After a swim in their pool, we had dinner at Ju Ju's, just around the corner. Fine meal!
Gas mileage today unbelievable! 47.2 Of course, it was 175 miles with a 2000 foot elevation drop. It always helps to be going downhill!
Home tomorrow! Linda is whining now!
