This place is beyond spectacular! The weather was a little gray this morning but cleared into a beautiful sunny day! We went into the "town site" and had a great breakfast at Trappers Mountain Grill. Then, driving around town, after we bought our boat tickets for the 2:00 tour, we came across Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. This the first of many Peace Parks around the world. Established in 1931 and inspired by Rotary! We found Cameron Falls which then led us on a 7 mile drive up a valley to Cameron Lake. Beautiful. Reminded us of Idaho's Stanley Basin.
Our boat ride was an hour and a quarter heading south on the lake with spectacular views and a great moderator! If you look closely at the photos you'll see a large burn area. The park suffered the worst fire in its history in 2017 which almost consumed Waterton.
After a brief rest and a short hike around the hotel property we had dinner in the hotel dining room. We enjoyed beef and chicken, all dolled up with the usual herbs. Very delicious!
After dinner we drive only part way up the road to Red Rock Canyon. We'll do that in the morning on our way out. We did see two bear cubs in a tree and her cinnamon colored mother!
The Prince of Wales Hotel is great! It is sooooo picturesque! Hopefully, if we come back sometime, they will have fixed the elevator! Tomorrow, its a short drive down to East Glacier, back in the USA.
